When Can I graduate.
Senior year was the most exciting, emotional and stressful year of my entire four years at the UW. Deciding to apply to dental school the summer after my junior year meant that I would be spending my last year waiting to hear back from schools and flying to different interviews (that is if I got any). Of course I turned in my dental applications later than I wanted; my personal statement didn't feel complete until one day mid July at 5 in the morning. I had trouble getting some of my classes to count for certain things at different schools. And schools were sending me supplements in the Fall right when I was busy with coursework. The worst part was waiting: for supplements, for interviews, for final decisions.
I had planned my fall quarter so that if I had to leave for interviews I could... but I wasn't offered any. Winter Quarter rolls around and I was losing hope, and then right before Winter Break I had my first interview. Another one followed that and that was it. I clung on to some optimism but really I was preparing myself for more rejections and a gap year. Although we know now that it all worked out in the end, it was one stressful journey to get here.
Besides applications this year I really took the time to value the people in my life. I went on more outings with friends, I reached out to younger sisters at the sorority and called my family frequently. I just realized that I was so lucky to have people who supported me wholeheartedly and genuinely believed in me. Its really easy to just focus on school and grades. I could spend all day going to class and coming home to study to get top in my class but that was never worth it to me. In the end what meant a lot to me was being able to maintain quality friendships. As one of the only seniors still living in the sorority I took the opportunity to really spend time with the younger members, eat my meals in common areas and strike up conversations with those I didn't know very well.
I also did anything and everything I was invited to. I worked three jobs, took full course loads and went out every week. I was going to sleep very little this year but I wanted to look back knowing that I worked at my full capabilities and also never let a moment pass by.
I'm exhausted but I feel fulfilled.
So there's my four crazy years... and it made me who I am today. So with that in mind it only makes sense to go to dental school at:
